Get to Know Aubrey H. Scher, DMD

Dr. Aubrey Scher is a skilled and compassionate periodontist with 20+ years of experience in the dental field, most of which have been spent here at Georgia Periodontics. He is known for his patient-centered approach and commitment to helping individuals achieve better oral health and well-being. Witnessing the positive results of his care is what Dr. Scher enjoys most about his profession, and nothing makes him happier than seeing firsthand the transformative impact periodontics can have on people’s lives.

Why Did You Decide to Become a Periodontist?

Dr. Scher's interest in periodontics began when a family member received periodontal treatment, inspiring him to explore this specialized field. He was drawn to the idea of treating patients and helping them manage and overcome periodontal disease and tooth loss, which led him down the path he still walks today.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. Scher earned his undergraduate degree from Indiana University before attending the University of Pennsylvania for dental school. He then completed his periodontal residency at the University of Illinois-Chicago.

Today, Dr. Scher is a Board-Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and is actively involved in the dental community, maintaining memberships with the American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, Georgia Dental Association, and the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity. He also contributes to local study groups and continuing education platforms, staying current with the latest advancements in his field.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

A native of Suffern, NY, Dr. Scher has called Brookhaven home for over 20 years. He lives with his wife, whom he met during his residency in Chicago, their daughter and son, and their dog, Otis. In his free time, Dr. Scher enjoys coaching travel softball, cooking, and spending time with his family. An avid sports enthusiast, he loves watching his kids' teams and often volunteers within the community.
